When renovating a thatched former farmhouse and neglected protected structure into a new family home with a traditional appearance it is vital that the property is restored with care so it respects its setting.
For this project, we immediately had to rethatch the roof with water reed, which is in keeping with the materials used in local properties for 300 years. Specialist thatcher’s, Heritage Thatching helped us recreate an appearance which is in keeping with its original appearance that is at one with the landscape and befitting the property’s traditional rustic style.
The house exterior and interior was renovated by local builder and craftsmen of Hoban Construction and the outbuilding by local specialists MCG Morrissey Construction.
The result is a home that is traditionally styled and grounded in its environment, yet renovated in its interior detailing and finish. The views and, beyond that, a panorama of the Copper Coast make this a distinctive local village landmark and addition to the beautiful beach properties of Waterford.
